Millions of people are stranded by floodwaters in Bangladesh, facing a severe shortage of clean drinking water.

In six upazilas of Feni, hundreds of thousands of people remain stranded by floodwaters, leading to severe hardship for the residents. A critical shortage of clean drinking water has emerged. Information from various areas was reported on Friday morning.

The flood-affected districts are Feni Sadar, Chhagalnaiya, Phulgazi, Parshuram, and Daganbhuiyan. The Army, Navy, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Fire Service, and volunteer organizations are conducting rescue operations to move residents to safer places.

Chhagalnaiya, Phulgazi, and Parshuram—these three upazilas are entirely flooded, causing significant suffering for the residents and a severe shortage of essential supplies. In Feni Sadar and Daganbhuiyan upazilas, 80% of the population is stranded by floodwaters. All unions in Sonagazi upazila have been inundated. Nearly 350,000 people are experiencing severe hardship.

In various villages across the upazilas, approximately 100,000 people remain stranded. Almost all flood-affected areas are without electricity, and most mobile towers are out of service, making it impossible for people outside the district to contact their relatives and family members in the affected areas.

Mohammad Abdullah, Deputy Assistant Director of the Chattogram office of the Fire Service, stated that at least 100,000 people are still stranded in Feni. Two teams have already begun rescue operations starting at 10 a.m.

The flood situation in 12 districts across the country has worsened further. 3.6 million people are now stranded or facing losses. Over the past two days, eight deaths have been reported in four districts due to drowning and electrocution.
