According to ESPN's John Keim, Enteen was initially suspended after making these comments to an undercover reporter from the O'Keefe Media Group. In the recorded conversations, Enteen labeled the team’s players as anti-gay, accused Jones of being racist and anti-gay, and referred to Goodell as a "$50 million puppet."

Enteen had been with the Commanders for four years, previously working for the New York Jets. The O'Keefe Media Group released a video explaining that he met the undercover reporter through the dating app Hinge and had two meetings at local restaurants. In the video, Enteen reportedly stated, "Over 50 percent of our roster is white religious and believes 'God says, F--k the gays.' Their interpretation. I don’t agree with that."

He also claimed that "Jerry Jones, who really runs the NFL, I think hates gay people and Black people." Additionally, Enteen criticized the intelligence of football players, calling them "dumb as hell," and described the league's social justice efforts as "performative."

The Commanders stated the comments "run counter to our values" and launched an investigation.
