Israel Informed the United States in Advance About Lebanon Operation

Israeli officials informed the United States in advance that they were planning an operation in Lebanon on Tuesday. However, Israel did not provide detailed information about the nature of the planned operation.

Even on Tuesday morning, a phone conversation took place between U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. Three sources familiar with the matter told CNN that U.S. officials were left in the dark about the specifics of the operation due to the lack of detailed information.

On Tuesday, a coordinated explosion targeted several thousand pagers used by Hezbollah, a militant group in Lebanon. This unprecedented incident resulted in the deaths of 12 people, including Hezbollah members, and injured nearly 3,000.

A pager is a communication device used to send and receive messages. CNN confirmed that Israel was behind the attack, which has escalated tensions in the region. Israel's intelligence agency Mossad, along with its military, jointly carried out the operation in Lebanon.
